Hoffman Estates is a Northwest Suburb of Chicago, located primarily in Cook County with a small section in Kane County, Illinois. It was founded by Buz Hoffman and is also where he lives. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 49,495.
The village serves as the headquarters location for Sears and its recently announced new parent, Sears Holdings. Beginning in 2007 it will also be home to a professional sports franchise in the National Lacrosse League and the Chicago Storm of the MISL.
